Rurouni Kenshin Movies in Order + Review! [No Spoilers] (August 2022)

Rurouni Kenshin’s anime might not be one of the best Samurai anime (at least not on your top 5 list), but the live-action movies are far from splendid. Everything was done well in these adaptations.

So if you are wondering if the movies are worth watching or a guide to the Rurouni Kenshin movies in order, we have the perfect article written for you.

Rurouni Kenshin Movies In Order + Reviews!

1. Rurouni Kenshin Part I: Origins (2012)

Rurouni Kenshin Part I- Rurouni Kenshin Movies in Order

Part I: Origins it’s where it all started (at least according to the movies released). We see how Himura Kenshin swore never to kill anyone again and yet he strives to do what he feels is right.

The action was over the top, and the stunts were amazing. The ost hits the spot every time there’s going to be a fight scene, and every aspect is honed to perfection.

2. Rurouni Kenshin Part II: Kyoto Inferno (2014)

Rurouni Kenshin Part 2- Rurouni Kenshin Movies in Order

After Part I, Kyoto Inferno introduces a great villain, “Shishio”. Although Himura seems formidable with every opponent he’s faced so far, we see a weak side of him in this part.

The ending gave me chills, and even though they reused the ost, we can’t get used to it at all since every time it plays, we can get goosebumps. The action scenes and plot were solid, and it’s a must see.

3. Rurouni Kenshin Part III: The Legend Ends (2014)

I don’t know if the title is for “Shishio” or “Himura” because they are both exceptional compared to any other character in the movie. The characters killed their roles with action and acting.

The final scene also shows how respectful the Samurai warriors are, and although I felt that this movie fell a bit short of my expectations, it didn’t disappoint me in the slightest. It was amazingly amazing with the choreography and the visuals.

4. Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter Part I (2021)

Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter Part 1

After 7 long years, Rurouni Kenshin’s live-action adaptation has resurfaced again with Final Chapter Part I. I had high expectations for this movie, but guess what, it was not disappointing.

Although there is less action than the previous movies, the final fight scenes are masterfully crafted and explore a bit of Kenshin’s past. It was a bittersweet movie with some quality action.

5. Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter Part II (2021)

Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter Part II

Also titled “Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning”, it portrays the real Battousai, the killing machine. Other than the second movie, this one is also my favorite and not just because of the action.

The story felt so moving, and you will fall in love with Tomoe’s character. So once you’re done watching all four movies, this one will give you a great send-off experience from the franchise.

Concluding thoughts!

So, this is the order of Rurouni Kenshin live action movies that you should follow before watching them. Every movie produced by the franchise requires effort and they turned out to be masterpieces.

There are no live-action anime movies as well done as these, and if you’re thinking about watching them, just go for it. If you have any questions about ordering or reviewing the watch, feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
